According to industry sources, expensive premium down jacket (the luxury padding) getting more popular in korea every year.

Even though company like Moncler increased their supply by 20% more than last year ,some models have already sold out since this summer.

Monclar representative at Shinsegae international said, monthly sales of Moncler products on average went up to 600 million won(about 550,000$) per major department stores in seoul and Canada goose up to 5~7 million won per store.
Expensive brands such as Canada Goose, Herno, Nobis and Moose Knuckles are all out of stock because of it's popularity in korea.
Shinsegae International, which imports the Moncler brand, also added that its jackets are mostly purchased by customers in their 30s and 40s.



Usually Korea is seen as an example where Western luxury brands have edged out local designers. These international luxury brands are considered ``aspirational, cool and status enhancing.'' in korea.
But this year Domestic brands such as Bean Pole is doing well with their own premium line of luxury down jacket compared to previous years.
Some of Bean pole's premium line of jackets have already sold out in Bean pole outlet all over the country according to Bean pole's official.

Koreans' obsession with luxury goods spread to down jacket from bags and watches nowadays.

After the North Face boom of the last couple of years, which made that line of jackets a kind of uniform for teens and college kids, Canada Goose and Moncler are being called “The North Face for adults.” That’s despite their high prices, which are three to seven times more expensive than down jackets by general outdoor brands.
