LG strikes back with G Flex international release after novermber debut in korea




Samsung may have beaten LG on to the market with a flexible screened smartphone, following the Galaxy Round’s release last month, but LG could still grab some of Samsung’s glory with its own curvy phone is released. According to Korean news source , LG wants to not only launch the G Flex phone on three Korean networks next week, but also send it out to international markets after that too

LG Electronics Inc., the world's fourth-largest smartphone maker, unveiled its first curved smartphone, the G Flex, on Tuesday, LG Electronics expressed its confidence in taking the lead in the nascent flexible smartphone market.
G Flex could get international launch soon.

“The G Flex is one that shows the right direction for flexible smartphones, and even smart gadgets such as smart watches, to follow. LG will maintain its high reputation in the flexible smartphone market,” said Ma Chang-min, vice president of LG Electronics’ domestic marketing division, at a press conference.



The G Flex has a 6-inch plastic OLED display that curves inward from top and bottom. Samsung Electronics Co., its bigger local rival, also unveiled a similar curved-screen smartphone last month.

LG said the G Flex is equipped with a curved battery, which its affiliate LG Chem Ltd. started to produce last month.

The smartphone with a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and runs on the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) Advanced mobile network.

The smartphone has no side buttons as all of its buttons are on the rear of the device.

The smartphone also presents compelling key features. For one, "KnockOn" lets users turn on their phones by tapping the display twice.

LG Electronics did not give specifics on the price, adding that the device will be released in korea next week.(Yonhap)
