Google "South Korea stands out as important market account for one of top five sales in global market."


Google Korea pointed out South Korea as one of important area of conquest and sale market for its mobile platform, Google play.

In this regard, Google Korea held press conference named 'Google play and games' and released business performance and future plans of company to the the public at Google Korea office in Yeoksam dong, Gang Nam district, on March 31

"The Google Play ecosystems in Korea rely on great Korean developers making great apps," said Chris Yerga on hangout, who oversees the platform business, adding that 17 out of the top 20 most downloaded apps in the country were games.

The Internet giant said Google Play, its mobile application market brand that was rolled out in 2012, will provide local developers with new business opportunities as the platform is used in more than 190 countries.

The app market currently boasts an average 1 million downloads a day, with 50 billion downloads in total since its launch, Google said.

The company claimed a handful of Korean developers gained success through its platforms, such as WeGo Interactive Co.'s Revlot 2, which recorded 8 million downloads around the globe, or Vinyl Lab's Radio Hammer, which ranked No. 1 in major Asian markets.

"Games are a core part of Google Play's success," said Yerga, adding its Google Play Games platform will introduce developers' contents to a wider range of users.

Yerga said that as openness is the key value sought by Google, the company will not ban developers from launching their contents through other platforms such as Kakao Talk or LINE.

Google Korea also unveiled first national TV commercial for its newly launched Google Play on this day.
